About Us
Riggins Nursery is a wholesale operation established by Bob & Donna Riggins in 1985. The farm of 180 acres was originally bought by Warren Riggins, Sr. in the 1920's. His son, Warren Jr., and then his son, Bob, continued the farming tradition as they grew asparagus, grain, and vegetables. Bob and his wife, Donna, began growing nursery stock in 1985. When their three children joined the nursery, they became the fourth generation to work on the Riggins Farm. Bob and Donna's two grandchildren, ages 7 and 9, are already showing interest in joining the nursery, creating the fifth generation to be a part of the Riggins farming tradition. Bob and Donna recently acquired Donna's family farm, bringing the total acreage of the nursery to 280 acres.
Every year has seen some expansion and today (2007) there are 16 acres of holding houses and 50 acres of field-grown stock where over 350 varieties of plants are grown. The identifying characteristics of Riggins Nursery have been growing top quality plants and providing excellent customer service. We try to maintain a balance between being large enough to keep our customers' needs supplied and being small enough to retain a family-run business. All of our manager positions are filled by family members which we feel helps us to maintain our quality and service.
We would like this website to allow you not only to get to know us better but also the plants we grow. We will try to have current pictures and descriptions of what we are growing that will be able to offer more information than we can include in our catalog. We are always looking for improved varieties and new varieties and we want to use this site to introduce those to you. You can find these in the "What's New" section. Please feel free to give us a call to place an order or with any questions you may have.
